INTRODUCTION

Hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid) is a condition in which thyroid gland does not produce enough of certain hormones.

Thyroid is a small, butterfly shaped gland situated at the base of the front of our neck, just below the adams apple.

Hormones produced by the thyroid gland – 1) Triiodothyronine (T3)

  • Thyroxine (T4)

These hormones also influeneces the control of vital functiones such as body temperature and heart rate.

Hypothyroidism results when when thyroid gland fails to produce enough of certain hormones.
