Dr. Murphy in his Lotus Materia Medica draws heavily from Boericke and Clarke to describe Teucrium.

The Germander group of the Labiatae to which Teucriums belong, had an important place in old herbal medicine, and Homoeopathy has placed Teucrium on a firm foundation.

Whether we use many remedies for polyps or a just a few Teucrium is indispensably one of them. The other uses of Teucrium – worms especially ascaris; ingrowing toe nails etc.

For most of us the use of Teucrium is confined to the above mentioned conditions whereas the fact is there is much more about Teucrium that needs to be mentioned and also the mind of Teucrium which is so less explored.

It is a neglected medicine for fibroma, injury, skin complaints etc.

I have tried to make a mini drug picture of Teucirum Marum Varum. But in this part 1 we shall only see the mind of Teucrium and some clinical tips.

Clinical Tips

1) Ingrowing toe nails with ulceration which is better my motion – Dr.Pulford

(Another important remedy for ingrowing toe nail with ulceration is Silicea)

2) Dr.Nash  – I have found this remedy one of the best for ascarides. Have cured many cases who had “tried everything” (so they said) without avail. I have noticed that people troubled with ascarides often have a great deal of tickling, tingling, etc., in the nose, with ascarides have this symptoms). And it is notable that Teucrium is one of the best remedies for polypus of the nose; will cure it, and that never to return.

3) Teucrium has a peculiar cough.
It is associated with a mouldy taste in the mouth while hawking up the mucus.
This may be considered a key-note symptom of the remedy.(Dr.N M Choudhari)

4) Teucrium is also reputed to have cured hard fibrous growths on the inner side of the eyelids which prevented them from properly closing.(Dr.N M Choudhari)

5) Useful in recurrent nasal polyps which are soft and obstructive (Dr.Rajneesh Kumar Sharma)
