NCH Issues Strict Circular to Curb Malpractices and Unethical Conduct in Homoeopathy

New Delhi, February 12, 2026 — The National Commission for Homoeopathy (NCH) has issued a significant circular aimed at eliminating malpractices and unethical behaviour among registered homoeopathy practitioners across the country, reinforcing professional integrity and safeguarding public health.

The directive, effective from January 28, 2026, warns practitioners that any form of false, misleading, or exaggerated claims — especially those suggesting guaranteed cures — is strictly prohibited. This includes misleading advertisements in print, electronic, or social media platforms that endanger patient safety or tarnish the reputation of homoeopathic practice.

Key Prohibitions Under the NCH Circular

The circular highlights a comprehensive list of practices that are now expressly forbidden:

  • Making unsubstantiated or guaranteed cure claims in any media.

  • Operating clinics, hospitals, or diagnostic centres without valid registration.

  • Offering pre-paid long-term treatment packages.

  • Displaying fraudulent credentials or misrepresenting clinics as research institutions.

  • Using patient testimonials in place of clinical data without consent.

  • Practising cross-pathy (non-homoeopathic treatment within a homoeopathic scope).

  • Advertising as a specialist without an NCH-recognised qualification in that area.

  • Conducting unapproved courses not recognised by the NCH.

  • Providing treatment or medical advice via social media without adhering to telemedicine guidelines.

  • Publishing general or specific treatment recommendations on posts, reels, comments, direct messages, or live sessions.

Consequences for Violations

The commission has emphasized that non-compliance will not be tolerated, and ignorance of the rules will not be accepted as an excuse. Penalties for violations may include:

  • Suspension or cancellation of professional registration.

  • Penalties as prescribed under statutory rules.

  • Initiation of legal action under applicable provisions.

The move reflects the commission’s commitment to uphold ethical standards in homoeopathic practice and protect patients from harmful or deceptive practices. Registered practitioners are urged to review the circular carefully and ensure full compliance with the updated professional conduct requirements.
