The Oceanic Unconscious: Exploring Ocean Remedies and Animal Kingdom Dreams in Homoeopathic Practice and its Dreams Repertory

Keywords: Subconscious mind, Ocean or Sea remedies, consolidate memories, Personal symbolism, Conscious personality, Rapid eye movement (REM).

Abstract:  Dreams are one of nature’s miracles, not the result of a wandering mind in sleep. A dream is an interface between the process of life and our conscious personality.

1. Brain activity- Dreams occur during the rapid eye movement (REM) stage of sleep, when brain activity is similar to that of being awake.

2. Personal symbolism- Dreams often use personal symbolism, drawing on individual experiences and emotions to convey messages.

3. Influence of experiences- Dreams can be influenced by daily experiences, emotions, and memories, as well as underlying psychological issues.

4. Variability- Dreams can vary greatly in terms of content, intensity, and frequency, and can be influenced by factors such as sleep quality, stress, and mental health.

5. Dreams can serve as a powerful tool for unlocking the patient’s inner world, facilitating more effective healing and personalized care. Dreams offer a unique window into the subconscious mind, providing valuable insights for homoeopathic case taking and prescribing.

Introduction

            Life first originated in the sea or ocean. Man, and other animals have descended from sea organisms. If we analyse our extra cellular fluid is like an ocean of salt water that surrounds our cells. Our blood and fluids are nothing but a modified form of sea water.

In Homoeopathy we have the ocean or sea remedies like

  1. Natrum muriaticum (Common salt)
  2. Sepia
  3. Iodine (Iodum)
  4. Spongia
  5. Aqua marina (Sea water)
  6. Silicea (Sand)

Definition

              Dreams are the series of images, thoughts, and emotions that occur during sleep. Dreams are believed to be a way for the brain to process and consolidate memories, emotions, and experiences.

Relation to the Mind

1. Subconscious mind the dreams are thought to be a window into the subconscious mind, revealing thoughts, desires, and emotions that may not be accessible in waking life.

2. Emotional processing: Dreams can help process and regulate emotions, allowing the mind to work through challenging experiences and emotions.

3. Problem-solving: Dreams can also aid in problem-solving, as the brain can freely associate and generate new ideas during sleep.

Interpretation and Significance of Dreams in Homoeopathy

1. Personal interpretation: Dreams are highly personal and can have different meanings for different people.

2. Symbolic meaning: Dreams often use symbolism, requiring interpretation to uncover underlying themes and emotions.

3. Insight into psyche: Dreams can provide insight into the psyche, revealing underlying fears, desires, and motivations.

               These points highlight the complex and multifaceted nature of dreams and their relationship to the mind.

                In an overview of the study and research concerning dreams, there is evidence that dream can be

a. an expression of what is happening in the physical body;

b. a way of balancing the physiological and psychological activities in us;

c. an enormously original source of insight and information in us, e.g. scanning information and forming new ideas;

d. an expression of human super senses; a meaning of solving problems, not only in our personal life, but also in relationship and work; a way of reaching beyond the known world of experience and presenting intimations from the unknown.

                The information about dreams presented here is all that has been studied and applied in my clinical practice during 27 years of working and studying dreams of our patients. The Homoeopathic medicine Selenium is used in very forgetful in business, but during sleep dreams what he had forgotten, that’s the beauty of homoeopathy in interpretation and application of dream as a key symptom during case taking. The detailed description of dreams under each ocean remedy. This helps the Homoeopathic physician to have an easy assessment. Also explained many different types of dreams and dream images, dreams cover a huge range of phenomena and human experience.
