About Book:

This is the latest and the most precise translation of Hahnemann’s seminal book on homeopathy.

Hahnemann’s Organon is the cornerstone of homeopathy. In it, Hahnemann takes us on a philosophical journey through the age-old questions of health, disease and healing, speculates on the ideal system for achieving these goals, and describes the system he found that meets these criteria. Along the way, he answers most of the questions a homeopath might have.

And while Kunzli, Naude, Pendleton’s translation translated us closer to what Hahnemann said, it didn’t translate the lengthy introduction – which places the work in its historical context. Perhaps the most complete organon to date is the organon published by Haug and edited by Josef Schmidt – who carefully transcribed the full text of the 6th edition. But this work, although completed, is still in German.

This latest edition discussed here, by Wenda Brewster O’Reilly and Steven Decker, is the first English translation to have looked at the entire book and studied what is said and HOW it was said.

In addition, the text was made easier to understand by adding titles and subheadings (paragraphs contain a summary at the beginning, ie paragraph 8 is summarized as follows: symptoms of the disease have disappeared, the disease has also been cured inside “); (“Understanding the disease: paragraphs 72-81”), when a paragraph has multiple “ifs” and “for”, the main points are numbered for better understanding, there is an 84 page glossary and a complete 39 page index is included.

The translators have included a listing of many of the most important words in the original German along with a discussion of the precise meaning in English for these words.

This is a very important book for people who are seriously interested in the study of homeopathy. This is the translation we have all been waiting for. It was worth the wait. Steven Decker and Wenda Brewster O’Reilly have provided excellent service to English speakers of homeopathy. A new standard has been established.
