New Delhi: The Board of Ethics and Registration in Homeopathy (BERH), under the National Commission for Homeopathy (NCH), has issued a circular addressing the prevention of derogatory, defamatory, and misleading statements against Homeopathy and duly registered Homeopathic practitioners.
The circular reiterates that Homeopathy is a legally recognized system of medicine under the National Commission for Homeopathy Act, 2020. It emphasizes that practitioners enrolled in the National Register or registered with the appropriate State Boards/Councils are authorized to practice Homeopathy in accordance with the law.
Taking note of instances where Homeopathy and its practitioners have been subjected to unsubstantiated, defamatory, or misleading remarks through print, electronic, digital, and social media platforms, the Commission has advised all stakeholders to exercise due diligence while making public statements related to the profession.
The circular further states that labeling duly registered Homeopathic practitioners as “quacks” may be misleading, defamatory, and detrimental to their professional reputation. It also advises that concerns regarding the conduct of individual practitioners should be addressed through established statutory, regulatory, disciplinary, or legal mechanisms rather than through generalized allegations against the profession.
Reaffirming its commitment to protecting the dignity, integrity, and lawful status of the Homeopathic profession, the Commission has stated that any deliberate attempt to malign, misrepresent, or unjustifiably discredit Homeopathy or its registered practitioners will be dealt with in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
The circular has been communicated to the Ministry of AYUSH, State Boards/Councils of Homeopathy, educational institutions, research bodies, and recognized professional associations for necessary compliance and awareness.
