ABSTRACT
Varicella zoster infection is a common viral disease caused by the varicella-zoster virus (VZV), manifesting primarily as chickenpox in children and shingles (herpes zoster) in adults. Conventional treatment includes antiviral medications, analgesics, and symptomatic relief measures. However, homoeopathy offers a holistic and effective approach in managing such viral infections with minimal side effects. This case report presents the successful homoeopathic management of a varicella zoster infection case. A 28-year-old male patient presented in the Out Patient Department (OPD) of our hospital with chief complaints of painful vesicular eruptions on the left side of trunk and severe burning sensation for 5 days. After detailed case taking and repertorization, Rhus toxicodendron 200 was administered in single dose followed by Placebo 200. Over a follow-up period of 4-5 weeks, the patient showed remarkable improvement with complete resolution of symptoms and no post-herpetic neuralgia.
