Efficacy of Thuja Occidentalis in Warts: A Case Study of Common Warts

Abstract:

Warts are small circumscribed, epidermal papillary elevations of skin. Pathogen  responsible for the warts is known as Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). This article  contains the following points- 1.Why thuja occidentalis is remedy for warts 2.A case  of common warts cured with thuja occidentalis.

Keywords: Warts, pathology, verruca, thuja occidentalis, Homeopathic  treatment, sycotic, HPV.

What is Warts?

Warts are benign non- cancerous skin growths that appear when a virus infects  the top layer of the skin. Viruses that cause warts are called human  papillomavirus (HPV).Warts are generally small, rough tumors, typically on the  hands and feet that resemble a cauliflower. These growths are considered benign;  in other words, they are normally not cancerous. Most of the time a virus, Human  Papilloma Virus (HPV) of papova viridae family is found to be the cause of warts.

Brief Pathology and Different Types:

Over 70 subtypes of DNA human papilloma virus (HPV) have been identified  Certain HPV subtypes are associated with specific clinical lesions, e.g. type 2 with  common hand warts, types 1 and 4 with plantar warts, types 6,11, 16 and 18 with  genital warts. Immunosuppressed individuals, such as those with renal  transplants, are particularly susceptible to viral warts. The epidermis is thickened  and hyperkeratotic Keratinocytes in the granular layer are vacuolated due to  being infected with the wart virus.

Clinical Types of Warts:

Common Warts:

They Appear as skin colored, fleshy, firm papules with rough surface. Common  sites are dorsum of hands, fingers etc. they range in size from less than 1 mm to  over a few cm and can coagulate to form large masses. They are commonly seen  on back of the hands and fingers.

Plane or Flat Warts:

Plane warts are smooth, flat or slightly elevated and are usually skin colored or  grayish yellow, but may be pigmented They are round or polygonal in shape and  vary in size from 1 to 5 millimeter or more in diameter. The face and the backs of  the hands and the shins are the sites of predilection.

Filiform Wart (Verruca Filiformis)

These fast-growing warts look thread-like and spiky, sometimes like tiny brushes.  Because they tend to grow on the face -around your mouth, eyes, and nose – they  can be annoying, even though they don’t usually hurt.

Plantar Warts

A plantar wart at first appears as a small shining “sago grain” papule, but soon  assumes the typical appearance of a sharply defined rounded lesion with a rough,  keratotic surface surrounded by a smooth collar of a thickened horn.

Genital Warts (Condylomata Accuminata)

These present themselves as a mass of verrucous tissue in the genital area,  prepuce, vagina, anal /perianal area. Condyloma accuminata are sexually  transmitted, acuminate and caused by HPV-6. The long and variable incubation  period may complicate the assessment of likely sources. Significantly genital warts  may be transmitted to mouth, tongue, lips of a patient by oral- sexual contact.

Why Thuja Occidentalis is Remedy For Warts:

Thuja, as is well known, affects epithelium layers anywhere in the body, first  making them grow excessively and later on causing their absorption. Hence, if the

warts have that a characteristic of the Arbor Vitae, Thuja does not suppress it, but  cures it. Peculiar strong odors are particularly present when there are fig-warts  upon the genitals such as Thuja cures. . It is often suited to old cases of  pneumonia, in such individuals as have suppressed gonorrhea, fig-wart  gonorrhea. Thuja brings back the primitive manifestation that has been  suppressed for years.

Different Stalwarts View On Definition of Warts

Kent. J. T. says that, Psora is the cause of all contagion. The majority of the cases  of Gonorrhea are acute, that is there is period of prodrome, a period of progress  and period of decline, being thus in accordance with the acute miasm. The acute  really and truly be called a gonorrhea, because about all these is of it is this  discharge.

  1. H. Allen says that, in the first place we must all admit that no abnormal growth  can be formed without it first being the work of the life force. We can also argue  that a healthy life force could not and does not construct one, as it has no power,  outside of its normal physiological action. Then how is it formed?

Roberts H. A. says that, Sycosis is generally understood to be the Gonorrheal  poison. We should make the distinction clear between Gonorrhea and sycosis.  Gonorrhea is the acute infection of the gonococci, which takes from five to ten  days to develop urethritis after an exposure. During this incubation period it is  purely an infection; then the local manifestations are thrown outward by nature  at the point of attack as a resentment of the vital energy to the infection, if the  Gonorrhoea is thoroughly and completely cured, practically no sycosis ever  develops.
