[3] Homoeopathic proving of Rauwolfia Serpentina was conducted in, 1954 by Lasser and schrenk at the Robert Bosch hospital in stutgart. The proving was carried out on 24 doctors using 1 X and 3X potencies for a period of 14 28 days also conducted proving in faculty of in London in 1954 55 on 6 Prover using 3X,6X,12C and 30C potency for a period of six months. finally Julian undertook detailed clinical studies to determine range of action of Rauwolfia in homoeopathic potency[4]Preparation of Homoeopathic Rauwolfia Q and potencies prepared according to H.P.I. Volume 1.
Rauwolfia serpentina used to treat people with neuropsychiatric conditions ,but the doses involved were high and often lead to severe adverse effect. Apparently the antihypertensive action of Rauwolfia Serpentina were noted incidentally during European use of plant. Reserpine alkaloid bind irreversibly to Catecholamine Storage granules in neurons .It deplete catecholamine from peripheral sympathetic nerve endings which Controlling heart rate, force of cardiac contraction andperipheral vascular resistance. It was world’s first successful blood pressure lowering agent.[5]
The Indian physician Rustom Jal Vakil is considered responsible for introducing Rauwolfia to western medicine. He collected data on patients treated with Rauwolfia for 10 years, from 1939 to 1949. In 1949, he published a watershed paper on the anti-hypertensive properties of Rauwolfia in british medical journal. He presented his detailed result from treating 50 patients who had high blood pressure with the root of Rauwolfia.[6]
AIM & OBJECT:-
To assess the efficacy of Rauwolfia Homoeopathic mother tincture in management of Hypertension.
METHOD:-
This study was conducted on outdoor and indoor patients, peripheral patients of Government Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital Bhopal. It is open label observational study was conducted on 20 cases between the age of 30-70 years of both sex were taken randomly who was suffered from Hypertension. The pulse pressure before and after treatment was considered and “t” test was applied to assessed the evidence based effectiveness of Homoeopathic Rauwolfia mother tincture.
RESULT:-
The mean age of patient involved in study was male 50% female 50% mean before treatment 60.8, mean after treatment 45.6,difference of mean 15.2,S.D. 4.7, at 19 degree of freedom (n-1)we find in “t” table ,tabulated value is 1.72 at 0.05 at the level of significant. Our calculated value is 14.3 on “t” test which is significantly higher to compare tabulated value. So the null hypothesis was rejected and Rauwolfia Homoeopathic mother tincture very much effective.
CONCLUSION: – Rauwolfia Serpentine Homoeopathic mother tincture more effective in management of Hypertension.
