Allergic Rhinitis And It’s Homoeopathic Approach

Abstract: , Allergic Rhinitis is a disorder in which there is inflammation of nasal mucosal membrane with episodes of nasal congestion , watery nasal discharge and sneezing. This article provide information about Allergic Rhinitis  along with homoeopathy  rare medicines.

Introduction:  Allergic Rhinitis is a disorder in which there is inflammation of nasal mucosal membrane with episodes of nasal congestion , watery nasal discharge and sneezing.

Aetiology: Allergic Rhinitis mainly caused by an immediate hypersensitivity reaction in the nasal mucosa .Many seasonal antigens like pollen from grasses , flowers , weeds or trees . Grass pollens is mainly responsible for hay fever the most common type of allergic rhinitis which is  at its peak  in the month of May and July .Allergic Rhinitis due to pollen is , however, a world -wide problem which may aggravated in the season of harvesting. Allergic Rhinitis may be trbhjigger by some specific reaction to antigens derived from dust , fungal spores or animal dander but similar symptoms can be trigger by physical or chemical irritants – for example -pungent odours,  or fumes , including strong perfumes, cold air and dry atmospheres.

Clinical Features:-  In the seasonal type there are frequent sudden attack of sneezing , anterior rhinorrhoea , post -nasal catarrh , nasal itching , nasal irritation or nasal obstruction . These attacks last for few hours and are often accompanied by symptoms like smarting and watering of the  eyes and conjunctival infection .

Homoeopathic management:

(1). Quillaya Saponaria :- In acute catarrh condition with sneezing and sore . Most effective in the beginning of coryza with sore throat , heat and dryness of throat. Cough with difficult expectoration .

(2). Sinapis Nigra :- Is useful in hay fever , coryza with dry nares and pharynx , with thick , lump secretion . Mucus from posterior nares feels cold . scanty , acrid discharges . stoppage of left nostrils all day or in afternoon and evening . dry hot with lachrymation , sneezing , nostrils alternately stopped .

(3). Amrosia Artemisiaefolia :- A remedy for hay fever , lachrymation and intolerable itching of eyes , watery coryza , sneezing , stuffed up feeling in the nose and head .

(3). Eucalyptus Globulus:-  A remedy with marked effects on catarrhal processes. Stuffed up sensation in nose with thin watery coryza, nose does not stop running , tightness across the bridge . chronic catarrhal , purulent and fetid discharge.

(4). Naphthalinum :- coryza, hay fever , sneezing ;eyes inflamed . Dyspnea and sighing inspiration . Better in open air .

(5). Natrum Arsenicosum :- A remedy  for nasal catarrh with headache , pain at the root of nose , watery discharges , drops in throat , feels obstructed , pain at the root .post nasal dropping of thick ,bland , yellowish mucus.

(6). Rosa damascene :- Useful in the beginning of hay fever with involvement of eustachian tube

(7). Squilla Maritima :- Fluent coryza ; margins of nostrils feel sore . sneezing ; sneezing with coughing , violent ,furious , exhausting cough with profuse mucus ; salty , slimy expectoration and with involuntary spurting of urine and sneezing.

(8). Trifolium Pratense :- Coryza like  hay fever ; thin mucus , with marked irritation .

(9). Mentholum :- Mentholum has proved curative in acute nasal catarrh. Coryza with post nasal dripping , cold sensation In nose .

(10). Penthorum Sedoides :- a remedy for coryza with rawness of and wet feeling in  the nose which no amount of blowing will relieve. throat feels raw . chronic disorders of mucous membrane with irritability . chronic post nasal catarrh . discharge  thick , pus like . streaked with blood .

(11). Elaps Corallinus :- Chronic nasal catarrh with fetid odor and greenish crust . ozena ; yellow -green discharge , nostrils plugged up with dry mucus. Nostrils stopped up.

(12). Skookum – chuck :-Hay fever , profuse coryza and constant sneezing .

(13). Solidago Virgaurea :- Inhalation of the pollen has caused hemorrhage from lung in phthisis; naso -pharyngeal catarrh, burning in throat . nares irritated with abundant mucus secretion ; paroxysms of sneezing.

(14).  Solanum Nigrum :- Acute coryza; profuse , watery discharge from right nostril ; left stopped up with chill sensation , alternating with heat.

(15). Osmium metallicum :- Irritation and catarrh of respiratory organs. Coryza with full feeling in the nose nose  and larynx sensitive to air. Small lumps of phlegm from posterior nares.
