A Case of Atopic Dermatitis Cured with Homeopathic Medicine

Introduction  

Atopic dermatitis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease characterized  by itching, redness, dryness, oozing or crusting eruptions and recurrent  flare-ups, commonly affecting feet, fingers, nails and ankles.  

It is commonly associated with hypersensitivity, allergy, emotional  stress, and a personal or family history of atopy.  

Case History:  

Age: 20 years  

Sex: Female  

Diagnosis: Atopic Dermatitis  

History of Patient Illness:  

 The patient presented with complain of……  

• Itching eruptions over:  

• Flexor surface of both arm  

• Between fingers  

• Between toes  

• Around both ankles and feet

• vesicles filled with fluid, raw, redness, inflammed.  • severe itching and burning sensation.  

• watery secretion oozes out after scratching.  

• scratching cause more scratching  

• modality: All symptoms aggravate at night time and winter,  scratching, eating salty things.  

Treatment History:  

The patient took many allopathic medicines  

Yet had no relief prior to homeopathic intervention.  

Past History:  

Patient had a history of Jaundice.  

Family History:  

Father: Healthy, but suffered from recurrent seasonal cough  Mother: Gall bladder stone.  

Siblings: one sister has a history of sinusitis and chronic skin complaint  which occur one after another subsite. 

Physical Generals:  

Thermal reaction: Chilly 

Appetite: Good  

Thirst: increased. Thirsty for large quantities of cold water.  Desire: salt, chalk.  

Aversion: Bread, rice  

Urine: D-4 to 5 times /N-0 to1 times  

Colour: scanty and high coloured.  

Cannot passes in presence of other.  

Stool: D-1 /N -0  

 Character: hard knotty.  

Sleep: 4- 5 hours, Unrefreshing.  

Perspiration: Nose, line of hair.

Silent grief  

Aversion to consolation  

Reserved nature  

Brooding over past

 Analysis And Evaluation Of Symptoms:

1. Analysis of the Case:  

• Mental Generals: The patient exhibits characteristic ‘Reserved  nature’ and ‘Ailments from disappointed love’.  

• Physical Generals: The patient is thermally hot with well  emaciation. The cravings for salt and spicy food with well  emaciation. 

• Characteristics Particulars :(skin) The dermatitis characterized  by raw, redness, inflammed vesicles filled with watery fluid oozes  out after scratching. The modalities Aggravation at night and by  winter, salty food.  

• Miasmatic Analysis: The Itching red inflammed eczema, grief,  emotional suffering indicates a Psoric Miasm.

After 1 month: After taking the homeopathic medicine, the condition of  patient improved significantly. The vesical becoming dried and no  watery discharged with itching and burning sensation subsided.

Conclusion:  

The application of the homeopathic Similimum, Natrum muraticum 200,  based on the patient’s symptoms and modalities, led to a successful  recovery in chronic case of atopic dermatitis that had previously failed to  respond to other treatment.
