On the 9th of august 1945, the plutonium bomb was dropped on Nagasaki which signified the end of the Second World War. The greater part of the town was destroyed, a large percentage of the population killed. Near the epicenter one tree survived the bomb: the Kaki tree (Diospyros kaki) – whose power for survival rendered this tree ‘The Tree for the World’.
Introduction
About eight years ago, I began the search for new homeopathic remedies. Because of my deep attachment for trees, I began to search for a tree with medicinal and healing properties and which was also connected with world development and the problems of our time. After a long search especially at sacred places, I discovered the Kaki tree in Nagasaki. The name of the tree is highly symbolical: Divine fruit for the soul during its stay on earth. The Kaki tree in Nagasaki stands for the end of the Second World War, the end of the destruction, domination, rape, fleeing and death. The tree signifi es the survival and the beginning of hope.
The Kaki remedy
With medicine made from the species of the Diospyros kaki, it seemed possible to cure illnesses, which were the results of radioactivity, fire and trauma. Diospyros kaki Creveld has now been in use since the year 2000. In the proving of Diospyros kaki Creveld conducted in the potency 200K, the subject of the dreams centered around the topics of survival, insecurity, danger, soldiers and rape. Also death, fire and dilapidated houses as symbol for serious illnesses, were frequently the theme of the dreams. The provers also mentioned about a house, which was ill because of the tremendous amount of stored chemicals; expulsion of chemicals cannot take hold; strange and mutilated beings; love; issues of black and white; cleaning-up and balance.
Diospyros kaki Creveld is an indicated remedy in cases of psychological and physical problems that are caused because of trauma resulting from war or fire or those problems resulting from chemotherapy, radiotherapy and electromagnetic radiation. The remedy enhances the detoxification. It has a positive influence on the skin, like diminishing the itch in the cases of burns and on the region of ENT. The remedy has proved it’s self in cases of asthmatic problems and multiple sclerosis.
Usually, the patient has a history of self-mutilation and suicidal thoughts with lots of fears, nightmares, dreams about war and fi re. The patient suffers with sleeping problems, is depressed, and has a feeling of loneliness. Very often the words like ‘survival’ and ‘insecurity’ are mentioned by the patient. The colors white and black are prominent in the dreams. This article details the case of a forty-year-old woman who was caught in a fire and developed multiple complaints afterwards. During the consultation, it became apparent that besides the fire, there were other reasons to prescribe this wonderful remedy – Diospyros kaki Creveld.
Case Details
The patient, forty years old female, consulted me for various complaints, which developed after a fire incident. The patient had severe burn and had been treated for breast cancer. The patient’s parents and grandparents were traumatized by war experiences. The woman is married; has two children. She is food- conscious and had studied naturopathy.
Presenting complaint
- Post-traumatic stress
- Sleep badly; with nightmares.
- Shuts down and becomes panicky in too warm room and in car with dry heat
- The senses are acute: awakens with fright from the smell of the sewagetreatment plant in the neighborhood
- Oversensitivity to noise, the patient overreacts to noise, is always on alert. She must be able to get away, to escape
- Always tired and have a ‘sleep-day’ twice a month.
- Itching of the hands, face and thighs; some part of her body always itches – The itch is painful stitching and burning
- Hands hurt as if they are still burning
- Patient cools off quickly
- There were involuntary movements which had diminished over the past few years but when the patient is tired, her upper limbs are out of control
- Fluid retention in the lower limbs, worse with heat; recently, there is retention of fluid seen in left upper arm
- Swelling of hands and face when in the sun
- Eyes are ageing prematurely: ‘mouches volentes’
History of the case
The patient encountered a fire accident eight and a half years ago. The fire had started in the upstairs room where the patient’s daughters were sleeping. The fire had been caused by the two candlelit lanterns burning in the bedroom.
There was a tremendous explosion after the fire ensued. The patient was standing just two meters away from the fire and felt like she was looing at the TV program. Her husband and daughters had managed to reach downstairs safely. The two top floors were completely burned down. After the fire, the patient became completely detached from her husband, her children and other family members.
Complaints after the fire
The patient suff ered with the following complaints after fi re:
- Third degree burns on hands and part of the face
- Second degree burns on the other parts of the face, ears, external throat and thighs
- First degree burns over the chest
Treatment History
The patient underwent skin grafts on both the hands, followed, sometime later, by reconstruction operations on the hands. The hospital in which the patient was admitted for treatment was not equipped for treating patients with extensive burns. Once at home, the patient, being familiar with First Aid Care and having knowledge of naturopathy started applying good oils for wound-care (Jojoba). She also saw to a good and balanced diet with additional food supplements. Her skin healed well.
Anamnesis
As a child, the patient had lots of accidents; one of which was a severe car accident which led to paralysis of both her legs and left arm for some time. She had suffered from inflammation of the bursae of her both hip joints and of knees. This still troubles her when she is ascending stairs. A year after the fire, the patient was treated for breast-cancer. Her one breast was amputated and lymph nodes in the armpit were removed. At that time, the patient was very tire and was still recovering from the fire-trauma. Therefore she decided to avoid radio- and chemotherapy. Up until now, the patient is convalescing from both these events.
Dreams
The patient had a recurring dream after the fire incident – She opened the door but cannot retreat. She has to push forward, she cannot stop; she has to go through the fire. She re-experiences the whole episode: bright red, white clouds like steam. After the dream, the patient awakes with pain and difficult respiration. Her hands and face become painful. The patient used to have these dreams few times in a year.
When young, the patient had dreamt about the sky becoming dark during the daytime and against this darkness there were sparks, tongues of fire and ash visible. That evening when the patient had this dream, a volcano in Chili erupted.
War-history
The patient’s maternal grandfather had been in the ‘underground defense organization’. He died during the Second World War in Berlin. Her both grandmothers were German. The father of the patient was a military man and because of this, the patient and her family had lived in Germany for some years. They used to visit Bergen Belsen (concentration camp) twice a year. The house in which the patient grew up had the shrapnel in the beams.

Follow up
Three weeks later, the patient called up to give her follow up. Her dreams were less strenuous. Her knees were giving her more trouble which was an old complaint and had returned with great intensity.
Prescription: Diospyros kaki Creveld 10 MK once a week during three weeks.
7 Weeks after the first prescription, the patient appeared to be more at rest, calmer. She felt more centered which was also observed at outer level. The patient reported to have more energy and was busy for the last seven days. She can now stick to her program. Her sleep had improved and she does not need sleep-days any longer. The involuntary movements of her arms had more or less disappeared.
The patient’s concentration power had been remarkably improved. Her knees hardly bother her now. The pain in the fingertips had lessened. The itching comes and goes but is still painful, stitching and burning. The patient still have the feeling that her hands are on fire. And because of the warm weather, the patient complained of swollen hands and feet.

9 Weeks after the first intake, contact via telephone: The patient dreamt about the fire fews days after she had taken the remedy. This was the first time in a long while. The painful itching had diminished considerably and currently it felt like the itch of a mosquito bite. The patient have less incitement to scratch.
20 Weeks after the first intake, the patient felt much calmer and desired to start her work again. There were no more sleep days and the patient had no nightmare. No more deep painful itching, the itching as from mosquito bites occurred only twice a week. This itching felt like a pinching kind of itch as if a nail is pressing down in a small spot.
The involuntary movements have become rare. There is no swelling of hands and feet, not even in warm weather. The patient stated that during the last two weeks, her hands seemed less painfully hot. The patient still reacts adversely to noises. Her eyes had not yet improved.

24 Weeks after the first intake, contact via telephone: The patient reported on telephone that there was no itching. Her energy was good. The involuntary movement of the arms was virtually non-existent.
7 Months after first intake, the patient came with the complaint of swollen joints of hands, toes and knees. She had experienced this complaint in her youth. The complaints caused by the fire had more or less gone; her hands weren’t as hot as before and the patient doesn’t become cold all of a sudden. All the members of her family have cold but she doesn’t.

8 months after the first prescription, had contact by telephone. The patient has no complaints of the joints.
13 months after the first consultation, patient feels much better. She hardly complains of anything now. Her Energy level is good. Patient has restarted her study of naturopathy.
