
Abstract: This report presents the case of a 21 year-old-male who was diagnosed with oral squamous papilloma in the buccal cavity of the inner right lateral aspect of cheek. The case is treated with Thuja Occidentalis , a homoeopathic medicine reported here. This case shows the effectiveness of homoeopathic medicines in Oral squamous papilloma.
Introduction: Oral squamous papilloma is a common, small, benign intraoral squamo – proliferation. Most common papillary lesions of the oral cavity and associated with HPV 6 and 11 in approximately 50% of cases. Commonly involves soft palate, tongue, lips, tonsils. Majority < 1.0 cm in size and donot show persistent growth.
Case Report: A 21 year-old-male presented with a raised whitish-pink lesion in the inner right lateral aspect of cheek (mucous). According to the patient , the lesion’s size had progressively grown over the past one year.
1) Present complaints: small, painless bump in the buccal cavity since 1 year.
O/E,
Cauliflower-like warty growth measuring under 1 cm in the inner right lateral aspect of the cheek.
Modalities: <chewing , while
< hot application
2) History of present illness : onset:- gradual
Duration:- 1 year
The patient had not taken any measures to treat it.
3) Past history: h/o chicken pox at the age of 12
No h/o treatment
4) Family history: Father:- Type 2 DM
Mother:- Rheumatoid Arthritis
5) Personal history: childhood:- birth to milestone on time
Occupation: College student
Socio-economic status: Middle-class
Marital status: unmarried
Habits: coffee and tea drinking
6) Physical generals: Diet – non-veg
Appetite – decreased
Tolerance to hunger – can tolerate
Thirst – decreased, 1-2 lit/day , long intervals
Thermal reaction- chilly patient
Micturition- 4-5 times/day , clear urine voided without any Difficulty, no abnormal sensation.
Bowels- regular and satisfactory, 1-2 times a day.
Perspiration- Profuse, more on face and forehead, foot-sweat is Offensive.
Desire – spicy food
Aversion- pulses
Sleep- sound sleep,5-6 hours, refreshing, prefers lateral position and sometimes on belly
Dream- fearful dreams of ghosts, falling from heights.
Tongue- vertical crack in the middle of tongue.
General tendencies: extremities gets very cold in winters, it takes a lot of time to make them warm due to which he even used to awake for quite a long time in night
7) Mental generals:easily gets irritated especially when busy with playing online games. – Prefers to stay alone to play games ( acc to his mother)
– Doesn’t share his problems or feelings
– Fear of ghost when in dark
8) Analysis and evaluation of symptoms:
Mental generals: fear of ghosts in dark
-secretive , doesn’t share his problem or feelings
Physical generals: chilly patient
– Fearful dreams of ghost, falling from height
– Perspiration, profuse, foot-sweats offensive odour
Particular: Painless small warty growth inside mouth (mucous)
– Vertical crack in the middle of tongue

1st follow up after 2 weeks
Date: 5/09/25
– Size of warts is not much better , but patient is feeling better than before. Appetite increased.

Rx 1) SL 200/ BD/ 15 Days
2nd follow-up after 1 month
Date:- 7/10/25
– Size of the wart decreased to some extent.

2) SL 200/ BD/ 15 days

3rd follow-up after 2 month
Date: 10/12/25
– Size of wart has decreased .
Rx
1) SL 200 /BD/ 15 Days

4th follow up after 2 months
Date: 15/02/26
– Size of warts has decreased to great extent.
– Patient got relieved.

1) SL 200 / OD / 15 Days

Conclusion : The homoeopathic medicine Thuja occidentalis showed excellent effects in treating oral squamous papilloma and also diagnosing oral squamous papillomas rightly and differentiating them from other malignant lesions helps in providing the right treatment. Therefore, we suggests for further studies and research related to the medicine to confirm this activity in other patients.
