ABSTRACT:

BACKGROUND: This article tells us about scope of homoeopathy in difficult & incurable cases. Then about approach towards different types of diseases also Kent’s view on fate of patients suffering from such diseases.

METHODS: Various old literatures and previous journals difficult & incurable cases and its philosophical background in relevance to Homoeopathy is reviewed and thus the importance of Homoeopathic case taking and prescription for such incurable cases is made easy to understand.

CONCLUSION: Helps the young Homoeopathic physician to know the importance of homoeopathy while dealing incurable cases and it’s in detail explanation as per Kent is made clear to understand.

INTRODUCTION:

While Homoeopathy itself is a perfect science, its truth is only partially known. This is how he starts the chapter saying that our system is solid built with extraordinary base of science in it & there is hope for difficult & incurable cases what so devastating it may be there is hope for hopeless individuals who seek help during their hard time when all other systems doors are closed. The ray of hope emerges from homoeopathic system says Kent.

THUS, KENT SAYS THAT TO ALL HOMOEOPATHS THAT:

The truth itself relates to the Divine that is nothing but the divine providence that god has set up for each one of us, all our destiny is fixed at the time of our birth  & the Knowledge relates to man his idea and understanding about the system and evolution of the diseases, but also says that to know about this science , It will require very long time for every homoeopathic physicians to become genuine masters in this hard truth¹.

FURTHER ARE THE IMPORTANT KEY POINTS FOR STUDENTS TO REMEMBER FROM THIS CHAPTER:

1. KENT RELATES CHILDREN’S OF SWISS & WATCHES:                
   In Switzerland the children have basically been raised for centuries to the build the watches perfectly, they have been raised, as it were, in the watch factories. Same Kent expects in terms of our system of medicine all should be trained like this.

• SO HOW ABOUT HOMOEOPATHY THEN?

Now, when Homoeopathy is hundreds of years old, and little ones grow up into the knowledge of it and observe and practice it, our successors will acquire knowledge that we do not possess now. Things will grow brighter as minds are brought together and men think harmoniously.

• WORK TOGATHER THINK TOGATHER:

The more we keep together the better, and the more we think as one the better. He says that we need to work together so that our system becomes strong but Kent says but this isn’t happening at all & it is a pity that differences should arise among us when we have so perfect a truth to bind us together.

• OUR IGNORANCE:

Kent says that our ignorance makes the system to be failure. We have remedies for all possible diseases but our lack of knowledge makes the system weak as well the patient. But this was not a problem in olden days this wasn’t happening in olden times it was rarely so in Hahnemann’s day.

• WHICH IS BETTER TO RELY ON AS A BEGINNER:

Beginners, of course, are obliged to rely very largely upon the repertories. This one thing you can depend upon without any hesitation as it helps to select the best remedy. Thus, the image of the patient’s illness becomes simpler when you have done your best to prescribe one remedy after another.

• IN THESE DIFFICULT CASES:

When you have zigzagged the patient for a number of years, you will find his symptoms become more definite and striking and more clearly understood. So that it becomes easy to understand the history of the patient.

• PARTIALLY IMPROVED:

Sometimes when I have worked patiently upon a patient for a long time, and I have given several remedies, and when the patient has partially improved, She has become disappointed and run off to somebody else, But would come back again and say I had done more for her than anyone else and she would try again².

• PATIENTS STATE OF MIND:

I have found in such instances that time has done much, and that I had little trouble then to grasp the case and make rapid progress. In addition to that, she comes back with a patient state of mind, which is more helpful to the physician than to her.

• CONFIDENCE OF THE PATIENT & PHYSICIAN:                            The confidence of the patient helps the physician to find the right remedy & his mind works much better when he feels he is trusted; the confidence of the patient sharpens his intelligence.
• ONE SIDED DISEASES?

Closely analogous to these cases are what may be called alternating complaints and one-sided complaints, those that show but are one sided in nature.

Eye symptoms may be present when the stomach symptoms are absent.

1. WHAT MAKES CASE INCURABLE?

The oftener you prescribe for different groups of symptoms the worse it is for your patient, because it tends to rivet the constitutional state upon the patient and to make him incurable. So do not prescribe remedy without proper indications.

1. WHEN COMPLICATIONS ARISE, PATIENT RUNS AWAY:

These alternating and one-sided complaints are sometimes dreadful to manage, and when everything is thrown to the surface or the extremities, it becomes very difficult task to deal the case when the patient does so³.

e.g., when gouty and rheumatic symptoms have an outward tendency, the patient will run off and leave you.

1. FALSE HOPE BY OTHER SYSTEM:

The allopath has the means of putting the patients under the influence of strong drugs and making them imagine that something is being done to their benefit, whereas injury is being done whenever they are patched tip by strong drugs. So, Kent says that! This is injustice to the patient, do not do this.

1. THE SINGLE REMEDY:

The physician who applies the single remedy in potentized form, Under the Law of Cure any length of time will be able to achieve cure for the patient.

CONCLUSION:

What thoughtful physician will abandon the hope of a cure during painful sicknesses so long as life endures. In consumption and cancer and wasting sickness the remedy that is most similar to the painful groups of symptoms will ever give the most relief , Kent as well as Dr Hahnemann as he mentioned in his aphorisms, ment to say that , do not give false hope to the patients ,instead with the help of true similimum give the patient an effective palliation so that their quality of life improves⁴. We homoeopaths should always remember that there is no limitation is Homoeopathic system if limitations are there then its because we were unable to explore the vast literature of our Materia medica & organon of medicine because a ray of hope from homoeopathy to difficult and incurable cases is always present.
