Happy Doctors Day

National Doctor’s Day is celebrated on July 1st to thank the physicians and doctors for their service to the mankind. Even in their worst time they looked after us. This day is an opportunity for us to express our gratitude to all medical professional who work and serve their patients around the clock. Doctor’s Day celebration is an attempt to emphasize the value of Doctors in our life and to respect them.
National Doctor’s Day is celebrated across the nation to honor the legendary physician, second Chief Minister of West Bengal Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, who was born on 1st July 1882 and died on 1st July 1962. He was honored with country’s highest civilian award, Bharat Ratna on 4th Feb 1961. India celebrates Doctor’s Day on 1st July from 1991.
Apart from being a Doctor, Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy was also a philanthropist, freedom fighter, and is considered the man who shaped modern Bengal. He was also one among the very few individuals to obtain both F.R.C.S. (Fellowship of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons) and M.R.C.P. (Membership of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom) Degrees simultaneously.
On Doctor’s Day celebration various programmes are conducted where health related issues, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of various diseases are discussed. Medical camps are organized in the urban and rural areas to create awareness among the public on health care.
I really feel grateful to the Doctors and other health care professionals who are working around the clock, pushing themselves to the limit and putting their lives on the line, often with limited resources and they are the real heroes of our country.
A warm salute to all the Doctors of this world
Happy Doctor’s Day
