MUMBAI: In a setback to the Maharashtra government, the Bombay high court on Thursday stayed its notification permitting doctors having a degree of LCEH (licentiate of the court of examiners in homeopathy) to practice allopathy.
A bench of justice Shantanu Kemkar and justice Rajesh Ketkar passed the interim order on a petition by Indian Medical Association (IMA) challenging the September 27, 2017 notification which permits homeopaths holding a degree of LCEH to register themselves as allopathic doctors with the Maharashtra Medical Council.
Senior advocate SU Kamdar, representing the IMA, argued that the notification is bad in law because homoeopaths cannot be permitted to practice allopathy.
