The much-awaited third Prime Minister’s award will be announced on June 21, 2019, on the occasion of 5th International Yoga Day for outstanding contributions to the promotion and development of yoga. The AYUSH Ministry which coordinates the processing of the Awards recently extended the last date for application/ nomination for the Awards to 31st May 2019.
Yog Award nominations for the prize were invited through open advertising. The awards will be given in maximum of four categories – for individuals (one for domestic and foreign) and institutions (again one or domestic and foreign)
The winners will be awarded a trophy, certificate and each cash prize. The value of each cash prize is Rs. 25.00 lakhs This award has been established to recognize the commitment and contribution of individuals and organizations who contribute to promoting Yogavith in many ways to spread many awards among the public in an inclusive way.

Yoga institutions and other stakeholders can use this extended time to deposit applications or nominations for those candidates who they consider eligible for the award.
The Prime Minister’s Award is among the highest identities in the field of yoga. This is one of those very few prizes which have the support of the PM in the name itself. In order to ensure a transparent process in finalizing the awards, the two committees ie the screening committee (for initial assessment) and the evaluation committee (jury) have been constituted by the Ministry of AYUSH.
