Kolkata: Homeopathy students from Pratap Chandra Memorial Homeopathic College and Hospital staged a demonstration outside the West Bengal University of Health Sciences on Friday protesting against the fee hike. The students alleged that they were asked to pay more than the fee mentioned in the prospectus. They also alleged that the emergency ward of the homeopathic medical college was closed, resulting in inconvenience for the patients visiting the hospital.
According to the prospectus, the admission fees for the second year is Rs 29,300 whereas some people from the college were demanding a huge amount of money. Students alleged that without any legal notice from the health university, the college authorities were demanding the money. Despite being informed, the principal of the homeopathy college failed to take any action against those demanding more money from the students for their admission in the second year. The students also alleged that the college authorities were unable to explain why they were demanding more money. The agitated students also submitted a memorandum to a senior official of the West Bengal University of Health Science in this regard. The agitating students also threatened to organise a bigger movement if the matter is not addressed.
