2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:
Our client is a respected, International Development Agency, that works across the globe to promote children’s survival, protection and development.
Project Background:
Micronutrient nutrition programmes include the Universal Salt Iodization (USI) programme implemented under the NIDCCP programme and Child Anaemia Control (CAC) programme implemented under the National Iron Plus Initiative (this also includes paediatric anemia and WIFS junior). The consultant will be assisting the State Programme Officers for implementing various nutrition programmes to increase the coverage and the quality of the programmes. The State Consultant- Child Micronutrient shall support to the State Programme Officer (Child Health) and State Programme Officer (NIDCCP) to strengthen and implementation of child micronutrient nutrition programmes in the state of Bihar.
3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the overall guidance of the State Programme Officer (Child Health and NIDCCP Programme), State Consultant- Child Micronutrient, ICDS Directorateshall be responsible for providing technical assistance to State Health Society to improve the quality of implementation of Child Micronutrient programmes in the state of Bihar. The State consultant will also coordinate with the Food and Civil supplies department in upscaling of the Tirhut model of Iodised salt distribution in other divisions of the State, Introduction of Double Fortified salt in MDM, ICDS programmes, etc.
Key Job Responsibilities:
(1) Assist the SHS, GoB in rolling out of the micronutrient programmes in the State through support in capacity building, supply chain management, monitoring and strengthening the reporting system;
(2) Facilitate convergence meetings of the departments for successful roll out of the programmes;
(3) Coordinate with the Salt alliance and other such alliances and professional bodies for successful roll out of the programmes;
(4) Conduct field visits to real-time monitor micronutrient programmes, with focus on HPDs;
(5) Any other activity that may be identified as per programme need.
4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Qualification:
(1) Applicants must have a Master’s in Public Health/ Bachelor’s degree in Medicine/ Home Science (Nutrition);
(2) Candidates who have completed Ph.D. shall be preferred.
Experience:
(1) Minimum five years of post-qualification experience in supporting nutrition programmes;
(2) Prior exposure to work in micronutrient supplementation programmes such as Vitamin-A, NIPI, USI programmes shall be preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
(1) Willingness to travel as required for work;
(2) Good computing skills in Microsoft package;
(3) Good command over English and Hindi.
5. NATURE OF ENGAGEMENT:
The SC-MI shall be hired on a consultancy contract through Strategic Alliance Management Services P Ltd. (SAMS), a respected HR Agency.
6. PROFESSIONAL FEES:
Professional fees of the selected candidate shall be Rs. 1,07,000/- per month for the period of the consultancy assignment. (Note: Subsistence, Mobility and Contingency support shall be separately provided, to address field travel and related costs incurred by the SC-CM).
7. LOCATION: Patna with need base travel to field.

The consultancy assignment will be effective from the date of joining till June 30, 2018.
