 Abstract: Gout is a metabolic disease that most often affects middle-aged to elderly men and postmenopausal women. It results from an increased body pool of urate with hyperuricemia. This article provide information about gout along with homoeopathy medicine and important rubric in Synthesis Repertory. 2

Introduction : Gout is a metabolic type of arthritis. It typically is characterized by episodic acute arthritis or chronic arthritis caused by deposition of MSU crystals in joints and connective tissue tophi and the risk for deposition in kidney interstitium or uric acid nephrolithiasis.The raised levels of uric acid in body may be due to over production of uric acid or reduced excretion of uric acid. gouty causes severe pain, swelling and redness of that area.

Homoeopathic management  :

  • Arnica Montana: Gout. Great fear of being touched or approached. Pain in back and limbs, as if bruised or beaten. Sprained and dislocated feeling. Soreness after overexertion. Everything on which he lies seems too hard. Deathly coldness of forearm. Cannot walk erect, on account of bruised pain in pelvic region. Rheumatism begins low down and works up . Sensation as if the foot were compressed by a hard body.
  • Abrotanum: Pain in shoulders, arms, wrists, and ankles. Pricking and coldness in fingers and feet. Legs greatly emaciated. Joints stiff and lame. Painful contraction of limbs
  • Belladonna:  Shooting pains along limbs. Joints swollen, red, shining, with red streaks radiating. Tottering gait. Shifting rheumatic pains. Phlegmasia alba dolens. Jerking limbs. Spasms. Involuntary limping.. Pain is worse during night and cold and it is better by pressure.
  • Benzoic acid:  oints crack on motion. Tearing with stitches. Pain in tendo Achillis. Rheumatic gout; nodes very painful. Gouty deposits. Ganglion; swelling of the wrist. Pain and swelling in knees. Bunion of great toe. Tearing pain in great toe.. Old nodes become painful and as the pains abate palpitation sets in, ceasing only when pain increase. Urine is of highly offensive odour, depositing a reddish cloudy sediment.
  • Colchicum: Sharp pain down left arm. Tearing in limbs during warm weather, stinging during cold. Pins and needles in hands and wrists, fingertips numb. Pain in front of thigh. Right plantar reflex abolished. Limbs, lame, weak, tingling. Pain worse in evening and warm weather. Joints stiff and feverish; shifting rheumatism; pains worse at night. Inflammation of great toe, gout in heel, cannot bear to have it touched or moved. Tingling in the finger nails. Knees strike together, can hardly walk. odematous swelling and coldness of legs and feet. Uric acid diathesis. Gout in persons of vigorous constitution.
  • Ledum: Gouty pains shoot all through the foot and limb, and in joints, but especially small joints. Swollen, hot, pale. Throbbing in right shoulder. Pressure in shoulder, worse motion. Cracking in joints; worse, warmth of bed. Gouty nodosities. Ball of great to swollen (Bothrops). Rheumatism begins in lower limbs and ascends (Kalmia opposite). Ankles swollen. Soles painful, can hardly step on them (Ant c; Lyc). Easy spraining of ankle.
  • Staphysagria:  Extremities feel beaten and painful. Joints stiff. Crural neuralgia. Dull aching of nates extending to hip-joint and small of back. Arthritic nodes on skin. Chronic gout of men advanced in life, corpulent with feeble pulse, palpitation, dyspnoea on exertion.Pains in smaller joints of hands and feet, with much swelling and hardness; skin affections alternating with pains in joints; weakness of knees; soles of feet tender. 
  • Urtica urens: Pain in acute gout deltoid; pain in ankles, wrists. Symptoms return at the same time every year. Gout and uric acid diathesis. Can be used to reduce uric acid levels even in the absence of symptoms.
