Minister of State for AYUSH Shripad Naik inaugurated an Ayurveda palliative care unit at Base Hospital in Delhi Cantonment on Monday.
The Ministry of AYUSH has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Defense to provide traditional medical services in Armed Forces hospitals and dispensaries. The minister said, “Our soldiers work in challenging environmental conditions from the Siachen glaciers to the Thar Deserts, which also weighs on their physical and mental health.”
He said that Ayurveda and Yoga can help them attain physical and mental health and improve their endurance. Naik said that Ayurvedic medicines and said Panchakarma ‘procedures such as a Snehana’ and are Svedana ‘are effective in treating musculoskeletal disorders related to work.
Under the MoU, Ayurvedic units will also be set up at palliative care centres at Army Research and Referral Hospital, Air Force Hospital, Hindon in Ghaziabad and five pre-service men’s Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) polyclinics in Delhi-NCR.
