Panchkula: Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said on Friday that the state government has planned to open a medical college in each district.
He was speaking during the inauguration of 10 AYUSH Health and Welfare Centers in Haryana under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Khattar said that although the state has adequate health infrastructure, more doctors were needed to meet the demand. He said that 13,000 doctors were available against the requirement of 27,000 doctors.
He said that the number of MBBS seats in the state had increased from 700 in 2014 to 1,450 in 2019 and the target was 2,000 in the near future.
He thanked Modi for dedicating 10 centres to the people. The Chief Minister said that people can stop the disease without any side effects through yoga, proper eating and traditional medicine. He said that the state government is setting up ‘Vyayamshalas’ at the village level and instructors are being appointed to impart yoga training to the people.
AYUSH treats throat: PM to CM
In a mild vein, Prime Minister Narendra Modi advised Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar to have a sore throat treated at a newly launched Ayush Center. Modi said Khattar was on a busy tour of villages across the state for the assembly elections, which could have an impact on his neck. Modi said that he has faced such a situation and has made full use of Yoga, Pranayama and Ayurveda.
