Under the Ministry of AYUSH, the Yog Festival, organized by Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY), was inaugurated in New Delhi by Rajiv Kumar, Vice President of NITI Aayog, Rajeev Kumar. The two-day program, a certain international Yoga Day (IDY) 2019, aims to spread awareness amongst the public through IDY. Two applications ‘Yoga Locator’ and ‘Bhuvan App’ were also launched at the event.
Kumar, while addressing the huge gathering of Yoga students and professionals, emphasized the popularization of Yogic culture through social media. He also mentioned his proposal of the National Council of Integrated Medicine which would further promote Indian natural and traditional medical culture.
Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ayush Ministry, Shripad Naik presided over the inaugural session. He credited International Yoga Day as the biggest mass movement for health and welfare. Naik said that the natural and traditional medical system is flourishing not only in India but in the whole world. He further assured that the AYUSH Ministry is committed to research and development of yoga, Ayurveda and other natural and traditional medicinal systems.
