PUNE: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) School of Health Sciences has a launched post graduate certificate programme in Acupuncture (PGCACP). The IGNOU notification says that the popularity of Acupuncture as a mode of therapy led to the course.
“It shall help graduates of different systems of medicine to learn a new modality of therapy and utilize it for patient’s benefit in treating acute and chronic diseases. The popularity of Acupuncture as a mode of therapy is growing day by day and more qualified therapists are required to meet the goal, Health for All.”
“Eligibility criteria decided by IGNOU is that any Medical graduates of Allopathy, Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Homeopathy, Dentistry and Physiotherapy, as per the guidelines of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India can apply for the course,” said Masood Parveez, Senior Regional Director of Pune IGNOU Regional Centre in a written statement.
The program will be offered in nine study centres across India namely Delhi, Hubli ( Karnataka), Nasik ( Maharashtra), Indore ( Madhya Pradesh), Kota ( Rajasthan), Chennai ( Tamil Nadu), Rourkela ( Orissa), Ludhiana ( Punjab), Kolkata ( West Bengal).
