May 09 2018, Imphal: PIB Defence Wing had earlier reported that majority of soldiers in the troop hailed from North-east and suffered from ailments that got aggravated by the tough service conditions of insurgency in the North East.
As a part of an initiative supported by Ministry of AYUSH, 27 Assan Rifles troops has organised its first AYUSH medical camp at Churachandpur which focused on traditional forms of medicine and healing therapies to improve the health of Assam Rifles soldiers.
An eighteen-membered team of doctors and staff from Department of AYUSH, Government of Manipur will offer their counseling on treatment on Ayurveda and Homeopathy to the soldiers. Yoga sessions are also planned. Yoga practices and changes in lifestyle will be suggested along with alternative medicines from Ayurveda and Homeopathy.
The maiden camp is said to benefit around 450 soldiers of 27 Assam Rifles. It is hoped that the initiative will boost the morale and provide motivation to the soldiers towards their health and duties. The press release stated that this initiative may also help to improve Low Medical Category (LMC) state of the soldiers.
