IMPHAL, Apr 13: State AYUSH Director Dr A Guneshor Sharma was feted at a solemn function held at Shillong on April 10 under the aegis of the North East Institute of Ayurveda and Homeopathy (NEIAH) in recognition of his contribution in the field of Homeopathy.
Dr Guneshor was presented an appreciation scroll and a memento. Speaking to media persons at his Lamphelpat office today, Dr Guneshor said that Homeopathy is fast gaining popularity in the North East region. April 10, the birthday of Christian Frederich Samuel Hahnemann who invented Homeopathy is observed as the World Homeopathy Day.
After separation from the Health and Family Welfare Department, a separate directorate for AYUSH was set up in 2015 and Homeopathy is a branch of AYUSH, Dr Guneshor said.
Now an AYUSH hospital equipped with 50 beds has been opened at Lamphelpat and a Homeopathy Hospital equipped with 10 beds has been already inaugurated at Singjamei.
Moreover, a Homeopathy dispensary has been opened at Konjeng Leikai, he said.
After the foundation stone has been laid for a 50-bedded AYUSH Hospital at Keirao, the Government has been planning to open similar hospitals at Churachandpur and Moreh. The Govt has been awaiting approval from the Government of India to develop Kangla Herbal Garden and similar gardens at other districts, he added.
