Ayush Directorate to be Set up in Bihar

Patna: The state government has initiated the process of setting up an Ayush directorate under the health department, health minister Mangal Pandey said after inaugurating the two-day Homeopathic Science Congress at Adhiveshan Bhavan on Saturday.
“The state government had earlier received funds from the Centre for Ayush-related programmes but those were unutilised as Ayush directorate was not functional here,” Pandey said. “Our focus would be to make it functional. While earlier there used to be one director for Ayush, we have now recruited separate directors for homeopathy, Unani, Ayurveda and Siddha discipline. All this has been done to make the directorate function on the lines of the Union government.” Recruitment of Ayush doctors was also on the cards.
Central Council of Homeopathy president Ramji Singh spoke against the proposed bridge course for Ayush practitioners under the National Medical Commission (NMC) Bill 2017: “Ayush practitioners are supposed to learn about use of allopathic medicines for various diseases and then prescribe allopathic drugs for various diseases,” Ramji said. “But homeopathy should not be diluted with allopathy. ”
Homeopathy practitioner L.K. Nanda from Bhubaneswar said homeopathy helps cure lifestyle disorders .
N.K. Sahni, Research Institute of Sahni Drug Transmission & Homeopathy director and one of the organisers of the Congress, talked about homeopathic drug transmission through hair, founded by his father, the late B. Sahni. “A strand of hair of the patient has to be dipped in the drug. This method is also called the Sahni effect. So far, this kind of administration of drug has yielded good results,” Sahni said.
