Bhopal: Is MMVY Applicable for Ayush Courses? Colleges Clueless

Bhopal: Whether the students who have taken admission in Ayush courses will get the benefit of Mukhyamantri Medhavi Vidyarthi Yojna or not, is still not clear.
Students seeking admission in Ayush course are running from pillar to post to get the benefit of the scheme. Failure of the Ayush department authorities to communicate to the college administration and the students regarding the applicability of the scheme may prove dear to many students.
Department of Ayush which conducts courses in Ayurvedic, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy is holding the first round of admission counselling. There are around 28 private colleges and eight government colleges in the State. The Ayush department is yet to pass on the instruction the college administration, including private educational institutions regarding the scheme.
The first round of counselling which began on September 16 will be carried out till October 17. The department is conducting the counselling to fill 2710 seats in government and private colleges for these five courses.
Ever since the counselling started, the students who had qualified under the MMVY scheme are not getting proper answer from the government and the private medical colleges administration. The students are still clueless whether they will get benefit under the scheme or not.
The counselling is been done online and no such instructions have been uploaded on the department website. Hundreds of students who had passed the 12th board exam from MP state board with 75 percent and CBSE board students who had passed the exam with 85 percent are qualified to get the benefits of the scheme.
A principal of the private college informed that they have no option but to follow the rules and instructions of the department. We have been following instructions as posted on the website, but there is nothing regarding MMVY scheme, he said. “How can we assure the students that they will get the benefit of MMVY scheme, unless we have this in writing from the department,” he added.
The Ayush incharge joint director Satish Chandra Sharma shifted the responsibility on the colleges saying, “It’s the duty of the colleges to inform the students about the scheme and to enrol them accordingly”. However, Sharma accepted that till date the department has not given any instruction to colleges about the scheme, but assured that they will be doing it very shortly.  The second round of counselling will start after the Diwali and will continue till October 30.
Due to the negligence carelessness of the department many of the students may not able to get the admission in the colleges. If the students are eligible under the scheme, they will have to fill the form and submit it to the college. While the students who are not eligible will have to prepare a demand draft of the fees only then their admissions are confirmed.
Importantly the colleges are refusing the MMVY students applications, because the colleges are not having any instructions from the department.
Private Colleges’ seats
780 seats in 11 Ayurvedic colleges
1200 seats in 13 Homeopathy colleges
160 seats in Unani colleges
In the state only one Naturopathy college is present, which is in Bhopal.  In the state eight Government Colleges are present, including six Ayurvedic colleges, one Homeopathy and one Unani college are present.
