On the occasion of the 262nd birth anniversary of Dr. Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann (Father of Homoeopathy), the ICFAI University Nagaland (IUN) on Monday organised an awareness talk on Homoeopathy at its college campus here in Dimapur.
Chief guest of the programme, Dr. Bendangtula Jamir, asst. director H&FW and registrar, Board of Homoeopathic System of Medicine, Nagaland, spoke in length about her department’s activities with special emphasis on Homeopathy.
She pointed out the holistic and unique approach of Homoeopathy towards treatment of patients. According to her, Homoeopathy doesn’t treat the patient; it treats the person. She elaborated the differences between Homoeopathy and other forms of treatment, emphasising on the affordability and safety attributes of the former.
With regard to the changing dynamics of health and diseases, the role and importance of Homoeopathy would be vital especially for treatment of various lifestyle diseases, she said.
As the present Central Government has given impetus to AYUSH and other Indian medicines, Homoeopathy is set to grow, she said, adding that Nagaland with its plethora of medicinal plants has a good prospect of manufacturing AYUSH medicines.
Guest of honour, medical officer (Homoeopathy) DHD, Dr. Lanuyanger Jamir, spoke on the “practicality” of Homoeopathic medicines and treatment.
He informed on the efficacy of Homoeopathic medicines in treating viral cases including HIV and mental illness.
Earlier, welcome address was delivered by vice chancellor IUN, Prof. Charles P. Alexander. Dr. Kevizonou Kuolie proposed vote of thanks.
