The Encyclopedia Homeopathica: The First Comprehensive Library and true Encyclopedia of Homeopathy

Encyclopedia Homeopathica is such an easy and intuitive program that it is hard to believe that it can perform such complex searches through thousands of pages in just seconds. EH is the first program that allows for more complex or scientific questions and lets you specify any level of precision and detail you want. It represents a milestone in Materia Medica search programs’

-Frederik Schroyens, MD,
Author of The Synthesis Repertory.
Let us first discuss the word ‘Encyclopedia’. ‘An encyclopedia is a type of reference work – a compendium holding a summary of information from either all branches of knowledge or a particular branch of knowledge.’ Encyclopedia can also be described as ‘A book or set of books giving information on many subjects or on many aspects of one subject and typically arranged alphabetically’. The word encyclopedia comes from the Greek words‘enkyklios paideia’, meaning ‘general education’; ‘enkyklios’ meaning ‘circular, recurrent, required regularly’ + ‘paideia’ meaning education, rearing of a child’. It was reduced to a single word due to an error by copyists of Latin manuscripts. Together, the phrase literally translates as ‘complete instruction’ or ‘complete knowledge’.
Like the other sciences, Homeopathy also has vast information in form of Materia Medica, Literatures, Archives, Journals, Philosophy, History, Biographies, Clinical Cases, Therapeutics, Proceedings and much more.
Encyclopedia Homeopathica (EH) comes with an enormous range of Materia Medica titles, starting with the great classic works of Hahnemann, Kent, Allen, Hering, Boenninghausen, Clarke, Farrington, Dunham, Lippe, Boericke and many others. Recent information such as current provings, the works of George Vithoulkas, Jan Scholten, Alphonse Geukens, Frans Vermeulen, Frederik Schroyens, Paul Herscu, Jeremy Sherr, Roger Morrison, Nancy Herrick, Rajan Sankaran, Bill Gray, Jonathan Shore, Robin Murphy, Ananda Zaren, and Louis Kleinhave also been included. Many of the classic Journals volumes from the golden age of homeopathy are available now for the first time ever. In addition, numerous books on Homeopathic Philosophy, including Hahnemann’sOrganon of Medicine and Kent’s Lectures on Homeopathic Philosophy, are available.

With dazzling speed, EH searches through hundreds of thousands of pages of Materia Medica, Therapeutics, Journals, Homeopathic Philosophy and cured Cases. It’s easy, powerful search engine let us work with an entire Homeopathic Library, many shelves full of books, as if we were a long time experienced Homeopath. EH reduces the time we need to search in books to a minimum and increases our success to a maximum.
With Encyclopedia Homeopathica we can enter our patients’ symptoms on multiple lines, and the program will automatically detect what to look for.  This eliminates the need for search commands and frees up time for study and research! EH is a significant advancement in Materia Medica programs, because for the first time ever, information on pathologies, remedies, cases and families is encoded directly into the text. This encoding of information helps to avoid errors engendered by performing word-based searches.
For example, if we perform a search on fear in the family of snakes, EH’s analysis results will only include snake remedies. This unprecedented breakthrough is possible through the meticulous encoding of information on cases, pathologies, family groupings, therapeutics, and authors. Through this technological advancement, the practitioner and student can, for the first time ever, quickly and easily access and make use of our entire homeopathic heritage.
 Vastly Improved Search Capabilities
With Encyclopedia Homeopathica, practitioners and students can analyze in Materia Medica as is done in the Repertory. Family members can be identified and highlighted, and the analysis can be limited to a specific family grouping.  Because of EH’s advanced encoding technology, the user can locate information that was previously unavailable through materia medica search programs. For example, every case of a particular remedy can be extracted from the homeopathic treasures of the past and present.
 Lightning-Fast Search Engine
EH gives us the information we seek in seconds. Encyclopedia Homeopathica let us analyze our cases directly in materia medica. We can extract cases from hundreds of thousands of pages of homeopathic literature.
 Scientific Searches
The database of EH is unique in its quality and precision. EH is the only program that has included all information from the texts in a coded format. For example, all prover indications in Allen’s Encyclopedia or Hahnemann’s Materia Medica Pura are included. This allows the practitioner or student to check the exact origin of symptoms, which is essential for proper understanding of the original proving information. For instance, for several remedies in Allen’s Encyclopedia, the symptoms listed are a mixture of several sub-species. This information is of vital importance to be able to make reliable prescriptions or additions to the repertory.
 Other Advanced Features
EH provides the ability to quickly find the position of any remedy within the analysis. All search query and analysis results can be exported to other programs or printed. EH contains the entire contents of each book and journal, including proving information, footnotes, and references. With the remedy information presented in its original context with all comments and relevant information, the user can glean a deeper understanding from these homeopathic jewels.
 An In-Depth Look
Searches may be performed specifically for Remedies, Pathologies, Cases or done in Full Search mode.  This vast software database has such a superbly detailed structure that it allows us to easily retrieve the information we want with a minimum of effort.
  • Search by Remedies
  • Search for Pathologies
  • Search By Cases
  • Full Search Capabilities
Analysis in the Materia Medica
The ability to solve a case does not rest upon the analysis of one symptom.  The totality of unique symptoms reflected by the patient ultimately leads us to the appropriate remedy.  Utilizing the built-in analysis graph feature, Encyclopedia Homeopathica (EH) assists the homeopath in making a sound therapeutic decision when analyzing the case.
 Analysis Graph
The analysis graph facilitates the precision of our search. A different color represents each symptom at the top of the screen. The importance of the symptom for each remedy is indicated by the color of the bars: precision is our goal!
 User Preferences Available
EH gives us many options to set our own preferences in different screens. This shows the flexibility of the program to suit everybody’s needs.  For example, in the analysis window we can change the position of the bars, the remedies and even the colors. We can also adapt the font size of the program; in any screen we can either increase or decrease the font size.
 Analysis by Families
Another distinct feature of Encyclopedia Homeopathica (EH) is the ability to analyze our case by families.  There are several ways to interpret this family information.
It is important to note that the family is defined by a table of remedies. This is a more precise way to search for the remedies of a family than to rely on the presence of the word in the texts.
Currently EH supports eleven different families’ analysis modes.
  • Bowel Nosode related remedies
  • Boyd
  • Dorcsi
  • Five Elements
  • Kingdoms
  • Miasms
  • Nosodes
  • Periodic Table
  • Sarcodes
  • States of Matter
  • Teste
Nine different family analyses can be displayed on the same screen at any one time. A few mouse clicks is all it takes to change the family analysis strategy on the fly.
A Commitment to Quality in Homeopathy Software
Encyclopedia Homeopathica (EH) has the largest library available today. It also offers the highest quality of information.
Two approaches make the quality of EH outstanding.
  • A Transparent Structure
The 393 volumes appear on the screen exactly as in the books or journals; millions of words in their entirety. Scroll the screens as if we were turning the pages. It defines the type of text; is this Materia Medica, a case, a proving, etc. This structure allows us to retrieve the information we are looking for with greater accuracy and speed.
  • Checking Every Word
Texts have been encoded or scanned by different teams, in Belgium and abroad.
Imagine stepping into a huge Homeopathic Library, and being able to find any symptom, or get an answer to any question you have in seconds. With the birth of Encyclopedia Homeopathica (EH), the promise of homeopathic materia medica software programs has been realized.
Encyclopedia Homeopathica is extremely impressive! It is at present the finest, most advanced homeopathic research and analysis program.
